Welcome!  I’m Anne, a postnatal doula and breastfeeding counsellor, and founder of MamaMoon in Southampton.

I strongly believe it is essential that after birth all mothers receive nurturing support and guidance.  The postnatal period is the moment to restore your body after pregnancy and birth; to step into motherhood with a new energy and vigour…a new ‘You’!

My aim is to help you any way possible and to stack all the odds in your favour to have a healthy and positive transition into motherhood.  To be there along side you until you feel strong and confident in your new role.

Mamamoon - /‘ma:-mə-mu:n/ - noun - INFORMAL • a period of  physical and mental recovery after giving birth, during which mother and baby are protected from the busyness and responsibilities of the outside world.

• a fourth trimester that focusses on the holistic well-being of the mother as well as the baby, giving them the opportunity to bond.

Services

Postnatal Doula Services

My aim as your doula, is to create a sanctuary for you so you can get as much time to rest and relax as possible, in order to be able to heal and recover, as well as bond with and look after your precious little baby.

I offer 3 packages of support that include a prenatal planning session to discuss your plans and goals for the postnatal period.

I will work completely around your specific needs and am available for a free initial conversation to see if we would be a good match.

Breastfeeding Support

While breastfeeding is the natural way to feed and bond with your baby, many mothers find that it can be hard to overcome initial obstacles without support.

I can make time to sit with you and listen in the comfort of your own home and can give you consistent support and be there for as long as you need me.

I bring years of personal breastfeeding experience and experience supporting mothers with breastfeeding, as well as extensive specialist training.

Baby-wearing Support

Carrying your baby in the fourth trimester has so many benefits for your little one and also for yourself!

No wonder baby-wearing is gaining popularity (again).

It certainly is no new practice, but just as with breastfeeding, we seem to have lost the habit and skill, and so, many new mothers might feel unsure if they are "doing things right".

As a trained baby-wearing peer supporter, I can help you find a carrier that works for you and support you to carry your baby safely and comfortably.

I also have a wide range of carriers for you to try before you buy or to borrow.

Trauma Recovery

A traumatic birth, postnatal or breastfeeding experience can have a huge impact on how you feel in the fourth trimester and how well you manage to look after yourself and your newborn baby.

Finding a way to deal with your thoughts and emotions can make a huge difference for your own well-being and that of your little one.

The 3 Step Rewind Process, which I am trained to guide you through, can help you move past the heavy feelings of your traumatic experience.  You will feel lighter and more positive, so you can be more present with your baby and focus on a brighter future.

Testimonials

Anne has made such a difference to my breastfeeding journey when I was finding my feet at the beginning.

Her confidence and calm presence, as well as her warm, encouraging words, really helped me at a time when I was questioning everything and didn't know how to carry on.  Thanks to her support, it really felt like I was able to turn a corner.  I would definitely recommend her doula and breastfeeding services to anyone!
